SEMINARY PLAY on St. John Vianney this February

Last year's play on St. Paul has received positive feedback from theater critics. The experience of the seminary community was very inspiring and encouraging. This year, we are putting up another play. It is on St. John Mary Vianney, the patron of priests - in this year for priests.

The play will run from February 18 (Thursday) to 21 (Sunday) at 6pm.

Please support our play and you will indirectly assist us in the formation of our future priests.

Tickets are at P500, 300, 200 and 90 (students). Call Delia 515 8306. Donations are also welcome.

KIDS Recollection

More than 60 kids from St. Charles Academy (Grade III) experienced going to a recollection for the first time in their lives. They just received their first Holy Communion more than a month ago, and their enthusiasm during the spiritual exercises is very heart warming. Sometimes, by God's grace we inspire people here at LFC. This time, we were the ones who were inspired by the simplicity, kindness and sweetness of these children "of God."

Our recollections now are being opened by Fr. Mario, and a major conference is given by Sis. Silvana de Vera. Sis. Susan Aoanan and Sis. Belma Ibasan facilitate the group activities and the meditation.

SENIORS' 3-day RETREAT

The Seniors of St. Charles Academy in San Carlos City (Pangasinan) held their RETREAT at LFC. All of them for three days! This is very commendable. Most schools try to limit their spiritual event to an overnight experience, but St. Charles took a stand - and a lot of courage and determination, to give their students "three days with the Lord."

Fr. Mario in the closing mass encouraged the students to have a new life after the retreat - to have faith in God again, to have hope again in God's goodness and providence, and to have a new love again for God and for their neighbors.

God bless the students and teachers of St. Charles Academy!

On their second day, the students take an early morning walk by the beach.

SCHEDULE OF FORMATION PROGRAM FOR VARIOUS ALD LAY GROUPS

INFORMATION

2010 LENTEN FORMATION PROGRAM

1. Our formation this season will begin before Lent to accommodate most of our lay companions in the service of the Church and Liturgy. We organized the program after the consultation we had with the representatives sent by the different parishes on the 9th of January 2010 at LFC.

2. The one-day formation program will begin with the Eucharistic Celebration at eight o’clock in the morning, and end after the Penitential Rite and Confessions at three o’clock in the afternoon. This year, the major conference will be given on PRAYER, based on the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in the morning. The afternoon conference will be on the “Year for Priests” to be given by Archbishop Socrates Villegas or Bishop Rene Mayugba.

3. All participants would need a recommendation letter from their Parish Priests or School Directors. To facilitate, this schedule of submission can help:

a. BEFORE January 31, 2010 (Sunday), the recommendation letter must contain the following:

i. ALTAR SERVERS – 9 to 15 years old, at least one year in serving the liturgy, must be regularly attending mass and receiving Holy Communion.

ii. COLLECTA TEAM MEMBERS, GREETERS, and USHERS.

iii. CONVENT WORKERS AND PARISH OFFICE SECRETARIES.

b. BEFORE February 17, 2010 (Ash Wednesday), the recommendation letter should contain the names of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) and the Lectors-Commentators.

c. BEFORE March 28, 2010 (Palm Sunday), the recommendation letter should contain the names of the Choir Directors and Instrumentalists, and the NEW Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Lectors-Commentators who are to attend the BASIC FORMATION.

4. The fees. The Basic Formation for NEW EMHC and Lectors is 50% subsidized by the Chancery. The two-day formation seminar is P500, the other P250 is usually shouldered by the parishes (or the participants). The seminar includes formation materials. All the other programs/recollections have P200 as registration fee. For the altar servers, it will be P100, and the Collectors, Ushers and Greeters, P150.

5. LFC will provide individual ID’s and an OFFICIAL LISTING of each parish/school’s LAY WORKERS before Holy Thursday. The New EMHC and Lectors-Commentators will receive Certificates at the end of their Basic Formation.

The Walk of Retreatants to the Beach

LFC's retreat module designed by Fr. Mario for groups staying for 3 days includes an early morning walk to the beach. The second batch of seniors from St. Charles Academy, San Carlos City had this memorable activity this morning, on their second day of their graduation retreat.

At exactly six in the morning, before sunrise, together with Fr. Mario and their teachers, they walked the one-kilometer distance to the Tondaligan Beach from LFC. The long stroll by the beach side usually lasts 30 minutes.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES

LFC is for the formation of the laity. The family is the formator of children - it is a domestic church. Active lay members from different parishes who request to celebrate their wedding anniversaries at LFC are welcome. (Weddings are more appropriately held in parish churches.)
