LFC's 4th Anniversary

Introduction before the Thanksgiving Mass:

Good afternoon, brothers and sisters. Thank you for coming to celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino Saint and Patron of the Lay Formation Center.

Our Eucharistic Celebration will be presided over by the Most Rev. Renato P. Mayugba, the Auxiliary Bishop of our Archdiocese, to be assisted by Fr. Mario Dominic C. Sanchez.

Our liturgy today will be highlighted by the reading of the life story of San Lorenzo and companions after the presider’s greeting, and the saying of the Oratio Imperata after Holy Communion.

We are offering this mass for all the victims of the tropical storm, "Ondoy" and for those who are still suffering because of the floods in Manila and Central Luzon.

We shall also be praying for all LFC’s benefactors, especially the priests of the Archdiocese, for the establishment of this Lay Formation Center. We remember our beloved Archbishop, Oscar V. Cruz the builder of LFC and our incoming Archbishop, Socrates B. Villegas who celebrates his 49^th birthday also today. We also include the prayers of the many men and women and children who have come to LFC for retreats, recollections and seminars in the past four years.

A simple thanksgiving celebration with the college seminarians and friends from the Biblical Apostolate and the Family and Life Apostolate.

Happy Birthday, Ate Susan!

Our love and prayers go to Ate Susan Aoanan on her 54th birth anniversary on the 9th of September. She assists us at LFC for all retreats and recollections, and also in facilitating the formation of the lay ministers. Thank you, Ate Susan! We dearly love you!

SILVER WEDDING at LFC

A simple yet beautiful celebration of 25 years of marriage was held at LFC for Madam Leila Cruz's daughter, Maria Eleanor married to Ambrosio Valero. Madam Leila of St. Joseph's Drugstore, is a very generous benefactor of the college seminary and also of LFC! We pray for her entire family, especially for the couple and their son, Chino.

Congratulations to ATTY. KR AOANAN!

LFC celebrated with the AOANAN Family the successful bar examinations of Atty. Kleider Rex C. Aoanan, son of Atty. Conrado Aoanan and our beloved staff member, Mrs. Susan Cayabyab-Aoanan. Bishop Rene Mayugba and Msgr. Orlando Sabangan came over to celebrate the Eucharist with the family and friends at the LFC Chapel on May 9, 2009.

Vocation and Mission of LFC

Christifidelis Laici, the 1985 Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation of Pope John Paul II on the Vocation and Mission of the Lay Faithful in the Church and in the World, speaks very eloquently about the formation of the lay faithful. According to this document, the laity should receive a complete and integrated formation, one which bears its fruit in every sphere of their existence and activity.

1) The spiritual formation of the laity – their continual growth in communion with Christ is nourished by the help to holiness offered by the Church.

2) Doctrinal formation – which will enable them to explain to the world the reason for their hope. Systematic catechesis is also necessary.

3) A proper formation of a social conscience, especially in the Church’s social teaching.

4) An integrated program of formation that cultivates the human values and skills necessary for the lay faithful’s apostolic activities.

God is the first formator of the laity. The Church for her part also takes part in forming the lay faithful through the ministry of teaching and celebration of the sacraments. The Lay Formation Center exists for this purpose.
