LFC IS ONE!

In a very simple and meaningful way, we celebrated LFC's First Anniversary. It was presided over by Archbishop Oscar Cruz, and assisted by Fr. Rudy Somintac, Fr. Jim Cerezo and Fr. Mario DC Sanchez. A few lay persons came (despite the weather) and the seminarians sang for the Mass.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag gift-ed us with an image of our Lady. After the mass, it was processed from the Chapel to the Session Hall. The Hall was dedicated to Our Lady of Manaoag.

The Eucharist was celebrated in honor of San Lorenzo Ruiz, the First Filipino Saint who is a married layman.

Archbishop Cruz delivers the homily.

The Mass was attended also by all the employees of LFC.

Fr. Mario (that's I) gives a short word of gratitude. "Pag 1st birthday ng bata, kahit anong hirap ng mga magulang, ipinagdiriwang. Kaya din kami sa LFC, nagpapasalamat kami at nagdiriwang."

The Simple Procession

The Prayer to the Mother of God

Our Lady of Manaoag, pray for us.

Prayer to the Mother of God
(Pope John Paul II)

Mother of the Redeemer
with great joy we call you blessed.

In order to carry out his plan of salvation,
God the Father chose you
before the creation of the world.

The Son of God desired you for his Mother
when he became man to save
the human race.
You received him with ready obedience and undivided heart.

The Holy Spirit loved you
as his mystical spouse
and filled you with singular gifts.
You allowed yourself to be led
by his hidden and powerful action.

We entrust to you the Church
which acknowledges you
and invokes you as Mother.

To you, Mother of the human family
and of the nations,
we confidently entrust
the whole of humanity,
with its hopes and fears.

Do not let it lack the light of true wisdom.
Guide its steps in the ways of peace.
Enable all to meet Christ,
The Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Sustain us, O Virgin Mary,
on our journey of faith
and obtain for us the grace
of eternal salvation.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Mother of God
And our Mother, Mary!

LFC is 1-Year Old

Good News! LFC will be one year old (in operation) this coming week. On the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz (September 28) last year, Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz and the Clergy of Lingayen-Dagupan formally inaugurated the Archdiocesan Center in a very simple and solemn blessing.

On the same feastday, September 28 (Thursday), this year, we are inviting all our lay cooperators to join us celebrate in a joyful and meaningful manner. We shall have the mass at 3PM, and then we shall bless the "Our Lady of Manaoag Session Hall".

As perhaps some have already learned, we have installed three new units of airconditioners at the west end of our building. This hall, we shall dedicate to Our Lady of Manaoag.

We are very grateful to the Dominican Fathers for gifting us with a beautiful image of our Lady from her Shrine. Mabuhay po kayo!

St. Mary's Academy of Agoo, La Union comes to LFC!

On August 10 & 11, the First Year High School Students of St. Mary's Academy held their annual recollection at LFC, with Fr. Mario as Recollection Director.

The students enjoyed the recollection so much, that the personnel at LFC were reminded of the words of St. Peter last Sunday of the Transfiguration: "Lord, it is so good for us to be here." The students shouted, "We love you!" as the boarded the bus to go home.

LFC'S RECOLLECTION MODULES

LFC RECOLLECTION MODULES FOR TEACHERS & STUDENTS READY

This academic year 2006-2007, the Lay Formation Center (LFC), comes out with recollection modules for Teachers as well as for Elementary Pupils and High School Students. These Recollections will be handled only at LFC by Fr. Mario Dominic C. Sanchez, Director of LFC, and Ms. Digna Soriano, his Retreat Assistant.

Fr. Mario is a priest of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan and has a degree in Spirituality. Ms. Digna is a lead catechist at St. Gabriel’s Parish in Bonuan Boquig, Dagupan City.

The Modules are designed for 30 to 100 participants. The undergraduate modules are only for a day from 8AM to 5PM, while for the graduating pupils and students, the module is for overnight stay from 9AM to 10AM the following day. For teachers, it is for one and a half day, from 9AM to 1PM the following day. For reservations and inquiries, please call Delia: (075) 515 8306 or 523 3941.

FOR GRADES IV & V: FATHER-SON-SPIRIT MODULE

The Father-Son-Spirit Module is a catechetical module. It stands on the traditional conviction that the ultimate end of the human person is “to know, to love, and to serve God and our brothers and sisters.” The objective is that by a deeper knowledge of God, the participants may have a better relationship with him, especially in prayer and through love of neighbor.

Three conferences will focus on the Divine Persons: Father-Creator; Son-Savior; and Spirit-Sanctifier. Gratitude for the gift of Creation, acknowledgment of the need for a Savior; and awareness of spiritual presence of God are the goals of the three conferences. A letter to God will be composed by the participants at the end of the day, followed by Confessions and Mass.

FOR 1ST, 2ND, 3RD YEAR HIGHSCHOOL: FAITH-HOPE-AND LOVE MODULE

The Faith-Hope-Love Module is based on St. Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians: “There are three things that last: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these gifts, is the gift of love.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that these are the theological virtues: virtues very close to the heart of God.

The three conferences will focus on these three virtues. The first will focus on Faith in God based on the Book of Hebrews. The second will be a reflection on hope in the compassion and forgiveness of God, as in the Story of the Prodigal Son. The third will focus on “love” which is based on Pope Benedict XVI’s first letter, “Deus Caritas Est.” These three conferences will be brought to the level of understanding of the participants. It ends with the Eucharist.

OVERNIGHT RECOLLECTIONS for ELEMENTARY AND HIGHSCHOOL GRADUATING CLASSES
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Whether graduating from High School or Elementary, the module that will be given by LFC Staff has one very important activity: “writing letters.” Three letters will have to be made by the graduating pupils/students: a letter to God, a letter to parents, and a letter to their friends.

The three conferences will have “God-Others-You” theme. God will be presented as the “Good Shepherd.” The “others” will be family and other significant persons. The “you” will be dealt with in the light of the participants’ dreams, ambitions, and aspirations. Another main feature of this overnight recollection is a prayer vigil with confessions in the evening. A celebration of friendship around a bonfire will cap the day.

In the morning, a walk to the beach for morning prayers will be scheduled, then breakfast, and finally the Eucharistic Celebration. LFC also OFFERS

A UNIQUE MODULE for RECOLLECTION of TEACHERS

A day and a half will suffice for a decent recollection for teachers of Catholic or private schools. The recollection module that LFC offers this year is Scripture-based, and contextualized in our Filipino culture. Conferences will focus on “the meaning of happiness,” the knowledge of Jesus, and discipleship. There will also be group sharings integrated with the sessions.

In favor of the school administrators, a workshop will be given on the vision-mission of the school, along with personal evaluation of the participants. This activity has been assessed by its first participants as helpful for the growth and development of both the teachers and the administrators.

The Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist will conclude the Recollection.

BEING TRUE to its name, the “Lay Formation Center” of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan is currently holding seminars open to the Laity every Saturday, from 2PM to 6PM.

Going on now is the Seminar on the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church. The Most Rev. Renato P. Mayugba opened the series on the 3rd of June and he will also close it on the 26th of August 2006. The seminar outline will follow the 12 chapters of the said Compendium. Mendoza of St. Fabian Parish; Fr. Jim Cerezo, Prefect of Discipline of MHCCS; and, Fr. Mario DC. Sanchez, LFC Director will give the lectures.

The first seminar scheduled last February 2006 was on Lay Theology and Spirituality. It was attended by more than 60 participants. The second was a Lenten Seminar on Pauline Spirituality. Both were given by Fr. Sanchez. The third seminar was on the Blessed Virgin Mary. Fr. Alvin Gerald Platon, the Prefect of Discipline and Dogma Professor at the Immaculate Conception School of Theology (ICST) in Vigan, Ilocos Sur gave the weekend seminar last May. In September, the seminar on Lay Theology and Spirituality will be given again on all its Saturdays by Fr. Sanchez.
