Retreat of Teachers from Abra

Fr. Mario and Sis. Susan facilitated the retreat of the Elementary and High School Teachers of the Divine Word College of Bangued run by the SVD Fathers. Some from the Administration offices also joined the big group of 67 retreatants on November 25-27.

The Conferences were all based on the Scriptures with topics about God, Family, Happiness and Gratitude. The Sharing and Meditation Sessions were guided by Sis. Susan, and were highly appreciated by the participants.

The retreat was culminated by a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Manaoag and lunch at the Tondaligan Beach.

The last group from the same College will have the retreat on the second week of December.

THE MAINTENANCE OF THE LFC ROOF

Sometimes, we think that establishing an institution like LFC (or a chapel or church for that matter) is completed when the building is constructed and finished. We often forget that maintenance is equally important and also costly. The 5-year-old roof of LFC badly needs repair and cleaning (is it because of substandard quality of materials?) so we are trying to save it from further damage by repainting it.

Happy 75th Birthday to our dear Archbishop-Emeritus Oscar V. Cruz

Just as we celebrate with joy the installation of our new shepherd, Archbishop Soc; so too do we remember with gratitude our former Archbishop, Most Rev. Oscar V. Cruz. Archbishop Cruz turns 75 years YOUNG today (November 17).

Some people say that AGE is determined by how people live their lives. If they always look back at the past - they are old; if they always look forward to the future - they are young. Archbishop Cruz, because of his vision for the Church and our nation, is one of the youngest citizens of our country! Long live, Archbishop Cruz!

The pictures were taken during the blessing of LFC, which he built, in 2005.

All Souls Day Mass at LFC 7:30 AM

We remember all the faithful departed, especially the LAY MINISTERS in ALD who have gone ahead of us.

De Profundis (Psalm 130)

The De Profundis takes its name from the first two words of the psalm in Latin. It is a penitential psalm that is sung as part of vespers (evening prayer) and in commemorations of the dead. It is also a good psalm to express our sorrow as we prepare for the Sacrament of Confession.

Every time you recite the De Profundis, you can receive a partial indulgence (the remission of a portion of punishment for sin). In the modern numbering of the Psalms, the De Profundis is listed as Psalm 130, though you will often see it listed as Psalm 129, according to the traditional numbering.

De Profundis

Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice.
Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication.
If You, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?
But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.
I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word.
My soul waits for the Lord more than sentinels wait for the dawn.
More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord,
For with the Lord is kindness and with Him is plenteous redemption;
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.
